The habour's origins can be traced back to the Romans, and it has been in operation for at least 900 years, also the Maritime Museum is worth a visit. |

| Flamborough & Bempton
Visit the Flamborough Lighthouse and Lifeboat stations. The birdlife at Bempton is quite unique as it has the only breeding colony of Gannets on the mainland which can be observed at the RSPB reserve. On the cliffs there are many other species of birds. Between the months of April and July you can observe Puffins, Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Shags and Razorbill and many other migrating birds. |

Hornsea, Beverley & Hull
Down the coast from Bridlington is Hornsea, a small resort with Hornsea Freeport - a large shopping and pottery complex. Inland Beverley is a quaint market town offering a splendid day out with the Minster of special interest. Hull is the largest city locally with its heritage of Icelandic fishing, but now with its modern day marina and dockland improvement area.

The historic city of York is just a nice interesting drive away. Step back in time and visit Yorvik Viking Centre and experience the sights, sounds and smells of the Viking era. The famous Railway Museum is something not to be missed, so too is the Victorian Museum and the Shambles. Six miles before York is Stamford Bridge - this was the site of King Harold's last victory before his defeat and death at the Battle of Hastings. |

Whitby & Heartbeat Country
Whitby - home of Captain Cook, this quaint town has retained all the character and charm of it's heritage as one of the oldest fishing ports in the country. Visit Whitby Abbey, Captain Cook's Museum, stroll through the narrow cobbled streets which will transport you back into yesteryear. Nearby is the North York Moors Steam Railway which runs between Grosmont and Pickering. Just a few miles out of Whitby is Goathland - the village where the TV series 'Heartbeat' is filmed. |
